HYDERABAD: A slew of recommendations for stern action against NRIs who dupe women from the State after marrying them and steps to be taken to keep a tab on crime serials telecast on vernacular news channels would be submitted to the government soon.

This was stated by the Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao after participating in a round-table conference organised to discuss various issues confronting women and also the impact of crime serials on the society here on Saturday.

Information and Public Relations Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy and representatives from different political parties, NGOs and media also participated in the conference.

The meeting also discussed in detail how the NRIs and also Arab Sheikhs dupe gullible women after marriage. “We will submit the list of recommendations to Home Minister K. Jana Reddy and State Human Rights Commission within three days,” Mr. Rao said.

Taking a serious note of crime serials telecast on news channels, the representatives suggested constitution of a committee to monitor such programmes.
