HYDERABAD: Veteran journalist and freedom fighter C. H. Acharya (84) passed away on Thursday in the city.

Late Acharya began his career with ‘Telangana Weekly’ in 1946 and joined ‘Golconda Patrika’ in 1947 and continued there till 1966. For two years between 1966 and 1968 he was with ‘Andhra Jyothi’.

From 1970 till 1986, he worked in ‘Andhra Bhoomi’ as the Mofussil desk in-charge and Chief Sub Editor. He was an expert on astrology and ran weekly columns in Telugu and English dailies. He also authored a few books including the biography of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.

He is survived by four sons and a daughter. The Veteran Journalists Association president G. S. Varadhachary condoled his death.
