The certification will be valid till January 2010

  • A cash award of Rs. 15,000 presented to train crew
  • `Internal quality audit to be conducted every three months'

    HYDERABAD: South Central Railway's (SCR) Venkatadri Express has become the first train in Hyderabad division to bag the ISO 9001: 2000 certification for quality maintenance.

    The certification given last month to the daily express bound for the temple town of Tirupati from Hyderabad would be valid till January 2010.

    "There is no scope for complacency in maintenance of the train and this certification adds to our responsibility.

    There will be an internal quality audit for every three months and an annual inspection by the ISO authorities for renewal of the certification," said Hyderabad Divisional Railway Manager Rajeev Vishnoi.

    Interacting with train crew at Kacheguda station, he underlined the need for sustained efforts to meet the quality norms stipulated by the global standardisation agency.

    SCR General Manager D. N. Mathur presented a cash award of Rs. 15,000 for the train crew in recognition of its efforts in obtaining the certification.

    Hyderabad Divisional Railway Mechanical Engineer Vivek Acharya also spoke.
