Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Andhra University P. George Victor on Sunday directed Principal of A.U. College of Arts and Commerce K. Sreerama Murthy to hold a meeting with the Registrar, Chief Wardens and Wardens of hostels of AU College of Science and Technology and representatives of students to discuss ways to peg the mess bill of science college hostels.

Hostellers have been on strike for the last four days alleging that the mess bill had gone up and the quality of food deteriorated.

Hike in price of LPG cylinders has increased the burden.

Prof. George Victor, after consulting the students and officials, decided to ask Prof. Sreerama Murthy to conduct the meeting to see if the mess bill could be pegged at Rs. 60 per day for a student.
