Teachers are responsible for all evils, flaws, wellness and betterment of the society, said Satavahana University Vice-Chancellor K. Veera Reddy while emphasising on the importance of qualified and dedicated teachers for the wellbeing of society.

He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day orientation programme called “B. Ed Model Curriculum” for principals of various B Ed colleges falling under the jurisdiction of Satavahana and Kakatiya Universities here on Wednesday.

Mr. Veera Reddy expressed concern over the lack of professionalism among the B Ed colleges.

The advent of substandard B Ed colleges and commercialisation of the profession have become a cause of concern.

Quoting reports of Annual School Education reports (ASER), he said that the government was spending more on the government schools and teachers.

But, the results were minimal and less than the private educational institutions, which have less infrastructure and facilities, he added.

Explaining about the introduction of new curriculum to the B Ed students from this academic year, B Ed Model curriculum State coordinator K.S. Sudheer Reddy said that they had made 50 per cent marks compulsory to pass in the practical’s and 40 marks for theory examinations. Besides, there would be four projects and 230 days of working days for the students, he added.

Dean faculty of Education, Kakatiya University, N. Ramnath Kishan, explained about the need for the introduction of common curriculum for B Ed students in entire State. Dean faculty of Education, Satavahana University and convenor of the programme S Mahender Reddy , SU registrar B Badraiah, Dean CDC M Komal Reddy and others were also present.
