The nomination papers of YSR Congress nominee for Visakhapatnam East Assembly segment Vamsikrishna Srinivas were found to be in order by the Returning Officer for the segment on Tuesday.
Announcing this at a media conference here on Tuesday, the YSRC candidate said the Returning Officer had held back the papers for detailed scrutiny on Monday after an objection was raised by TDP candidate from the constituency Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu on issue of criminal cases lodged against him.
Hitting out at his TDP opponent, the YSRC candidate said that it was unfortunate that Mr. Ramakrishnababu was resorting to such unfair means to win the elections. This only indicates the state of mind of the TDP candidate who has already given up the fight, he claimed.
Alleging that YSRC Visakhapatnam East nominee did not comply with the provisions of filling all the columns in the affidavit filed while submitting his nomination, former corporator Ch.V. Pattabhiram accused him of indulging in false propaganda and personal criticism barred by the Election Commission. His charges related to columns 5, 5 1 C and 5 1 (D) in the affidavit of YSRC nominee Ch. Vamsikrishna Srinivas.
Mr. Pattabhiram told reporters on Tuesday that a case was still pending against the YSRC nominee on which hearing was scheduled for April 28.
Raising objections over my nomination papers shows his state of mind, says the YSRC candidate
