Chittoor district unit of the Vaddera Welfare Association has regretted that though it's now more than four years since the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy government took a Cabinet decision to confer the Scheduled Tribe (ST) tag to the Vaddera community, no tangible measures were taken to make necessary legislations to that effect.

Leaders of the community participating in the 10th anniversary of their association said that even 63 years after Independence, Vadderas are still leading a ‘miserable life' without getting the political and social space they deserve in the State. They also criticised that though the government formed the federation of the Vaddera co-op societies for their economic and social uplift, except for some nominal allocations, it is not allotting to it adequate funds and demanded in this connection an allocation of at least 100 crores.
