Ameen Peer Dargah in Kadapa is being spruced up for Urs on January 13, which will be followed by a Sufi concert and qawwali programme by Oscar-winning musician A.R. Rahman that evening, Dargah Secretary Syed Ameer said on Thursday.
The festivities would begin with Gandham on January 12, he told a press conference in Pedda Dargah. A centrally air-conditioned Ameen memorial hall and Ziara hotel for guests would be inaugurated on January 13. The first event in the memorial hall would be a one and a half hour Sufi concert with qawwali and music at 6.30 p.m., for a limited audience of 400 comprising pass-holders, Mr. Ameer said. The concert would be telecast live on large screens put up outside the Dargah for the general public.
Videography or photography will not be permitted even by the print and electronic media personnel and photographs and a three-minute video clipping of the concert would be given to mediapersons later, he said.
All the arrangements for Mr. Rahman’s programme will be done by event manager, KM Music Conservatory, Chennai, its representative, Mustafa, said.
