Reorganising the police force has become necessary to face complex problems in maintaining public order, rising white collar crime and traffic hassles, Chief Minister K. Rosaiah said here after inaugurating the make-shift office of Guntur Urban Police District on S.P office premises on Saturday.
The Chief Minister said Guntur was the first UPD to be inaugurated, while UPDs at Warangal, Rajahmundry and Tirupati would be soon opened. Director General of Police R.R. Girish Kumar, IG, K.R.M. Kishore Kumar, SP D.S. Chauhan and OSD A. Ravi Chandra were present.
The CM also unveiled a plaque marking the laying of foundation stone for the new premises of GUPD which would be constructed on a 14-acre plot at a cost of Rs.15 crore near the ‘Y' junction at Autonagar bypass road in Pedakakani.
