VIJAYAWADA: The city-based Sree Kaleswari Travels has added a new feather to its cap by becoming the first in the country to add Swaraj LT Prestige Ultra luxury buses to its fleet.

Swaraj Mazda local dealer Vijaya Durga Auto Sales International delivered two buses to Chalasani Ramesh, a representative of the long distance tour and travel firm at his garage on Mahanadu Road.

Swaraj Mazda Limited executive director (R&D) B.S. Devgun, director K. Nakajima, vice-president (marketing) K.B. Prasad, Vijaya Durga Auto Sales International managing partner T. Prasad Rao, partners T. Vasanth Kumar and T. Preetham officiated over the handing-over function.

Representatives of Swaraj Mazda Limited said that after the expiry of the technical collaboration agreement with Japanese company Mazda Motor Corporation in 2004, the company had entered into a partnership with Isuzu Motors, Japan, which was one of the world leaders in commercial vehicle and diesel engine markets.

Plush interiors

Isuzu had released the 40-seater rear engine Swaraj LT Prestige Ultra Luxury bus into the market in a record span of 12 months, they said. In 2006, when Swaraj Mazda entered into a partnership with Isuzu, the company had set up two factories, one for production of Isuzu vehicles and the other for manufacturing bus bodies.

The Prestige Ultra Luxury bus has a 7,790-cc engine and an aerodynamic roof-mounted air-conditioner. The interiors of the bus look luxurious like in an aircraft, with all the 40 seats having independent air-conditioning ducts, reading lights and LCD screens for entertainment. The bus was priced at Rs. 59.50 lakhs and came with a two-year maintenance free commitment, Mr. Vasanth Kumar said.
