Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam will organise Ugadi, Telugu New Year, celebrations here on April 11.
The temple priests on Wednesday said the celebrations would start with snapanabhishekam at 2.30 a.m. on Ugadi.
A noted scholar will read out the panchangam, almanac, at Bhavani deeksha mandapam at 10 a.m. In the evening, ‘rathotsavam’ would be organised.
The chariot procession would start at Jammidoddi and pass through Brahmana Veedhi, Srinivas Mahal, One Town Main Road, police station, Kaleswara Rao market, Vinayaka temple, Ratham Centre and culminate atop of Indrakeeladri hill, they said.
The temple authorities have chalked out plans to conduct ‘laksha pushparchana’ at Aseervachana mandapam from April 11 to 19. Jasmine, yellow chrysanthemum (paccha chamanthi), roses, fire crackers (kanakambaram), marjoram or Majorana Hortensis (maruvam), white chrysanthemum (tella chamantni), water lily (kaluva), kagada mallelu, Tulasi, bael or stone apple leaves (Maredu dalam), and Datura flowers (Jilledu povvulu) would be offered to the processional deity during the ‘laksha pushparchana’. The devotees interested in taking part in the ‘laksha pushaparchana’ would have to pay Rs. 1,116.
Maximum 10 devotees would be allowed to participate in the ‘pushparchana’ every day.
At Kshetrapalaka Veeranjayaneya Swamy temple on ghat road, pooja with betel leaves would be performed on April 18, a day before Srirama Navami. Poornahuti would be performed on April 20, and Sri Rama Pattabhishekam would be organised on April 21, they said.
