Two Tamil Nadu Ministers sworn in

: Governor K. Rosaiah on Tuesday administered the oath of office and secrecy to the two new Minister-designates, S. P. Shanmuganathan and S.Abdul Rahim, at a function in Raj Bhavan here.

Portfolios re-allocated

Besides recommending their names for appointment as Ministers, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday also announced the decision to drop two Ministers from her Cabinet and re-allocate the portfolios of three others. The strength of the Cabinet after the reshuffle remains at 33.

Mr.Shanmuganathan, elected to the Assembly from Srivaikuntam and who became Tourism Minister, was the first to take oath.

Like Mr. Shanmuganathan, Avadi MLA Mr. Abdul Rahim, who is the new Minister of Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare, took oath in the name of God at the function, which was brief and attended by Ms. Jayalalithaa and her Ministers.
