The Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Vijayawada convicted Veeravalli Radhakrishna Murthy, senior assistant, Revenue Divisional Office, Eluru and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment and a pay a fine of Rs. 2,000 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

He was also sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay a fine of Rs.3,000 under other sections. Both sentences will run concurrently.

He was trapped by ACB officials in 2005 when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.5,000 for showing official favour.

In another case, the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Nellore convicted A .Nagaratnam, office superintendent, A.D. district insurance office/ APGLI, Ongole and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and pay a fine of Rs.2,000 under Section seven of the P.C. Act. He was also sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and pay a fine of Rs.2,000 under other sections of the Act. Both the sentences run concurrently.

He was arrested by ACB officials in 2005 when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.500 for showing official favour.
