Two more child deaths have been reported on Saturday in the Department of Neonatology attached to the S.V.R.R. Government General Hospital here which is in the midst of a cloud following the series of child deaths reported during the last four days.
According to a medical bulletin released for Saturday by the Hospital Superintendent, Dr. Veeraswamy under the directions of the District Collector, Chittoor, of the two infants that breathed their last today, one was a two-day-old baby from B.Kothakota mandal in the district and the cause of death is reported to be respiratory disorder. The other child was three-year- old Shravanthi brought by her parents from Vaddepalle in Vayalpadu mandal with epilepsy problem.
According to the medical bulletin, 35 children including six new born babies entered the ward on Saturday. As to the over all situation, condition of all 37 infants receiving treatment in the Neonatal department for different diseases is stated to be critical.
