Two persons died instantaneously and three others grievously injured in a ghastly road mishap on the Tirupati-Piler stretch of the Anantapur highway here on Thursday.

The family of P. Satish Kumar, hailing from Balaji Nagar in Nellore , was going to Puttaparthy on a pilgrimage when the mishap occurred at Bonamvaripalle near Rompicherla on the highway.

While negotiating a dip on the highway, the car swerved to the side, hit the milestone and capsized with a thud. While Satish Kumar (35) died on the spot, the car driver A.Govardhan Reddy (26) sustained critical injuries. He too succumbed while being shifted to the Piler hospital.

School bus capsizes

Satish Kumar's wife Sujatha, son Lokesh and mother Manohari were immediately rushed to SV Ramnarain Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati for treatment. Rompicherla police have registered a case.

Five children were critically injured when their school bus capsized at Buchi Naidu Kandriga this morning.

The management of Vikas High School in B.N.Kandriga was taking the students to Nagalapuram to witness the ‘Saraswathi Yagam'.

When the bus with 32 children reached the Sudalagunta sugar factory area, it capsized, causing serious injuries to five students.

They were immediately rushed to Srikalahasti area hospital and with little progress, were again moved to the Ruia hospital in Tirupati. Another 25 students were discharged after they received first-aid at Srikalahasti hospital.

The school's correspondent D.Suresh Naidu, who was also injured in the mishap, was rushed to CMC Vellore.

Case registered

B.N. Kandriga police have registered a case.

Tirupati RDO A.Prasad and his team of officials visited the hospital to check the health condition of the students.
