HYDERABAD: Police on Saturday arrested two persons, including a woman, for allegedly cheating two persons of Rs.40 lakh on the pretext of securing licences from the government for quarry business and getting gas agency permission.

Police said the prime accused N. Sudhakar used to work as a correspondent for a vernacular daily. He quit the job in 2004. His wife Vasuda used to run a beauty parlour. She promised Bhanusri, a software engineer, a job in the government sector.

“Sudhakar made a fake appointment order to Bhanusri with signature of Chief Minister appointing her as the Chief Minister's secretary,” police said. In the meantime, Bhanusri's friend Jyothi approached her requesting her to secure permission for a gas agency and an engineering college. Bhanusri introduced Sudhakar to Jyothi's husband Chandrasekhar and Sudhakar collected Rs.12 lakh from him.

He also collected Rs. 27 lakh from Rajesh, who wanted a licence to carry out blasting in quarries.

As pressure mounted on him, Sudhakar took them to New Delhi in January and left them in a hotel and escaped from there. Police tracedand arrested them on Saturday.
