Handwriting samples of 562 students analysed

HYDERABAD: Police are suspecting involvement of two girl students in connection with the graffiti scribbled on the posters of Ambedkar on the campus of University of Hyderabad.

A day after some student associations staged demonstrations in front of Ladies Hostel-3 on the campus in protest against the act, the Chandanagar police collected handwriting samples of some 562 students on Thursday.

Since the words scribbled on the posters were in Telugu, the detectives are focussing on students who frequently write in that language. "Of the 562 students examined, we found that some 42 students write mostly in Telugu," an investigator said. CLUES team and fingerprint experts examined the vandalised posters.

After analysing handwriting samples, sleuths reportedly zeroed in on two girl students. Meanwhile, some student associations staged a demonstration in front of the university Vice-Chancellor's office on Thursday seeking immediate arrest of the accused. The Balanagar ACP Satyanarayana Reddy pacified the students promising to arrest the persons responsible for the vandalism in a day or two. The University authorities also announced a fact-finding committee to inquire into the incident.
