VISAKHAPATNAM: Swami Swaroopanandendra Saraswathi of Sarada Peetham has urged the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam authority to protect Hindu traditions.

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, he criticised the attitude of the TTD executive officer Krishna Rao who had allegedly assaulted an employee of TTD on Monday and his failure to provide adequate arrangements on the day which happened to be the auspicious occasion of Vaikuntha Ekadasi.

“He wants to sell even the laddu prasadam. Even small temples provide free prasadam to the visiting devotees after darshan. Can’t the TTD give free prasadam? And why is it unable to contain activities of non-Hindu religions on Tirumala hill? How could it allow the birthday celebrations of a former Chief Minister of Karnataka who is a non-Hindu, on Tirumala?” he asked.
