TIRUPATI: As part of its welfare programmes, the TTD would be soon launching the `Shravanam' project designed to benefit hearing-impaired children up to the age of two-and-a-half years.

In an informal chat with mediapersons here on Friday, the TTD's executive officer A.P.V. Narayana Sarma said that the board has already earmarked Rs. 10 crores to set up a fully equipped centre at Tirupati in this connection and added that the project would become functional very soon. Mr. Sarma also defended the TTD's decision to use the services of a leading spiritual organisation like Ramakrishna Mutt to print and distribute among the devotees books on Hindu religion, philosophy, heritage, values etc through its well-established network. He said that if similar institutions of repute came forward to help the TTD accomplish the task, it would not hesitate to take their services also in the matter. He also released a DVD of the recently concluded Tirumala Srivari Brahmothsavam.
