Two of the major temples run by the TTD are getting ready for annual festivals.
The nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at Sri Kalyana Venkateswara temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram near here will begin on March 1. The hoisting of the temple flag (Dhwajarohanam) signals the beginning of the festival. On the Garuda Seva day, the garland adorned to the deity of Sri Andal (Godha Devi) at Sri Govindaraja temple in the town will be taken out in a colourful procession to Srinivasa Mangapuram to be adorned to the Lord.
The TTD management has cancelled daily rituals like ‘Suprabhatam’, ‘Thomala Seva’ and ‘Archana’ during the nine days. Barring the celestial bath to the presiding deity (Moolavarlu) on March 8, the Nitya Kalyanotsavam, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, Swarna Pushparchana, Ashtothara Satha Kalasabhishekam and Tiruppavada will remain suspended during the period.
The annual float festival (Theppotsavam) at Sri Govindaraja temple will be held from February 19 for seven days at the Pushkarini.
