Elaborate arrangements made for annual festival on Jan. 30

Elaborate arrangements are being made for the grand conduct of the annual Rathasaptami festival of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on January 30. Immense importance is attached to the annual fete which is also known as Surya Jayanti festival as the Lord is brought out of the hill temple on as many as seven different Vahanams in a single day. The day starts with the grand procession of Suryaprabha Vahanam in the morning and will conclude with the procession of Chandraprabha Vahanam in the night.

No Arjita Sevas

In connection with the festival the temple administration has dispensed with the performance of all Arjita Sevas being performed inside the hill temple.

As thousands of devotees remain congregated all along the mada streets encircling the holy shrine witnessing the processions of the Lord on various vahanams brought out in different intervals right from dawn to dusk, the temple management has instructed its Nitya Annadanam officials to gear up themselves for the supply of free food packets, water and butter milk to the waiting devotees.

With the management expecting a huge turnout in the pilgrim crowd it has directed its reception officials to closely monitor the availability of the cottages and guest houses for the festival. As a majority of the devotees turn up a day in advance and stay overnight atop the holy town so as to participate in the Suryaprabha Vahanam being organised as early as at 5 a.m, the officials were also instructed to maintain sufficient vacancies in the accommodation on the preceding day of the festival also.

In the same vein arrangements are also in place for the conduct of the mega festival at all the TTD-run temples in the district including the Govindarajaswamy temple at Tirupati and Goddess Padmavati temple at Tiruchanoor.
