The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) district unit has decided to gear up for the ensuing local bodies’ elections and ensure that the party wins a majority of seats and show the prevalence of Telangana sentiment.
The TRS general body meeting was held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of its president Eda Shankar Reddy and attended by legislators Etala Rajender, S. Satyanarayana and Ch. Ramesh Babu and other district leaders.
Party leaders discussed at length the recent loss in the cooperative elections and the Congress leadership claiming that there was no prevalence of Telangana sentiment.
Expressing fear that Seemandhra leaders would pooh-pooh the Telangana sentiment if the party lost in the local bodies’ elections, the TRS leaders decided to get ready for the elections by strengthening the party from the grass-root level.
To expose Congress, TDP
The party would expose the true colours of the Congress and the TDP for diluting the cause of Telangana state. The party would launch agitation demanding seven-hour power supply to the farm sector, the party leaders said. They said the party would expose the Congress for neglecting the Telangana region on irrigation front and other projects in spite of statehood movement reaching its peak.
