HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has decided to approach the court against the decision of election authorities to reject the nomination of its candidate Surabhi Bhoom Rao in the recent election to the Legislative Council from Karimnagar local authorities’ constituency (LAC).
The TRS has announced its decision to file a petition for setting aside the unanimous election of the Congress candidate from the LAC using “backdoor methods.”
The unanimous election of the Congress candidate was tantamount to “murder of democracy” and the influence exerted by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s office on the election authorities ensured Mr. Bhoom Rao’s disqualification, it alleged.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, TRS leaders E. Rajender and Nayani Narsimha Reddy alleged that unable to take on the TRS candidate directly, the Congress “managed” the election authorities to secure the win.
