The Telangana Rashtra Samiti on Sunday took exception to the assault on a police constable Srinivas Goud for raising ‘Jai Telangana’ slogan at the APNGOs meeting here on Saturday and asked if people of Telangana were not free to express their emotions in their own land.
When ‘Jai Samaikhyandhra’ slogans could be raised at a place which did not belong to the participants of the meeting, why not ‘Jai Telangana’ in the land of locals? The incident was enough to show that mutual coexistence of people of the two regions was not possible, TRS floor leader in Assembly Eatala Rajender told a press conference today.
Mr. Rajender said anti-social elements were mobilised from coastal districts to create such disturbances under the pretext of a meeting of employees. It was a meeting got up by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and not by any association. Former DGP P. Ramulu, who is now in TRS, said the party would institute an inquiry into the incident involving Srinivas Goud. Another MLA Jupally Krishna Rao said it appeared as though Mr. Reddy was ‘producer’ and APNGOs president Ashok Babu ‘director’ of the meeting. Not a single speaker referred to the problems of employees though it was supposed to be meant for that section.
