The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has demanded that the government allocate at least Rs. 150 crore for the conduct of Kakatiya festival to highlight the importance of Kakatiya dynasty, its history, culture and legacy.

Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao ridiculed the Union government for allocating only Rs. 25 lakhs for the conduct of historical Kakatiya festival in the region. Alleging that the government had allocated Rs. 100 crore for Sri Krishnadevaraya festival and Rs. 140 crore for Chittoor district festival, he demanded that the government release Rs. 150 crore for the Kakatiya festival and celebrate the event on a grand scale in the entire Telangana region. Giving the details about the resolutions adopted at the two-day party brainstorming session, he said that the party had also demanded that the government provide 12 LPG cylinders per annum on subsidy to all the consumers. It also demanded that the government increase the mess charges for the students of SC\ST and BC hostels from the existing Rs. 535 to Rs. 1,500 per month. It also demanded that the government expedite the relief operations in the flooded affected villages.

Alleging that the power crisis in the State was created by the successive TDP and Congress governments, he wanted the government to seven hours of quality power supply to the farm sector. He also thanked the people of Karimnagar district for the successful conduct of the party’s brainstorming session.
