Demanding Congress and TDP MLAs and Ministers' resignations, students of Kakatiya University and those affiliated to the TRS party took out a rally from the Ekasila Park to Telangana martyrs memorial.

They paraded two buffaloes saying they were protesting the ‘indifferent' attitude of the Congress and TDP leaders.

“Had they seriously resigned and joined the ongoing separate Telangana movement, the movement would have been great,” said TRS students wing leader K. Vasudeva Reddy.

Raising slogans against Congress and TDP leaders, students marched till the martyrs' memorial opposite the District Court Complex where they staged a demonstration.

The teaching and non-teaching employees of National Institute of Technology (NIT) too boycotted their work and took out a rally from the NIT campus to martyrs memorial.

A delegation of the unions met the district Collectorate and submitted a memorandum urging Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take a positive decision on the ongoing separate Telangana movement in the region.

Tension prevailed when villagers of Hasanparthy mandal headquarters marched towards the District Police Office protesting what they called the ‘highhanded' behaviour of the local Circle Inspector.
