Suspended legislators stage dharna near Assembly entrance

  • Marshals lift MLAs and leave them in front of TRS Legislature Party building

HYDERABAD: Fifteen Telangana Rashtra Samiti members were suspended for a day from the Assembly within 10 minutes of the commencement of session for demanding immediate passage of a resolution on Telangana.

For the third day in a row, the TRS members had to be evicted after they protested near the podium. Soon after the House met, they rushed into the well and shouted slogans and flashed placards.

Repeated pleas by Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy not to disrupt the proceedings went unheeded. The Speaker directed Legislative Affairs Minister K. Rosaiah to name them and recommend their suspension. Mr. Rosaiah read out the names of 15 members including rebel MLA Mandadi Satyanarayana Reddy, who was not present, and announced their suspension.

The marshals evicted the suspended members, who included floor leader G. Vijayarama Rao, A. Chandrasekhar, A. Goving Naik, Ch.Laxma Reddy, K.Laxma Reddy, V. Laxmikanta Rao, K. Nagesh, N. Narasimha Reddy, M. Padma Devender Reddy, T. Padma Rao, K. Prathap Reddy, E.Rajender, S. Ramalinga Reddy, M. Satyanarayana Reddy and T. Harish Rao.

    People will teach a lesson

Later the suspended legislators staged a dharna near the Assembly's main entrance for about 50 minutes forcing members to take another route to enter the House. T. Harish Rao, Padma Rao, K.Nagesh, S. Babu Rao and A.Govind Naik lay sprawled on the floor. Addressing them, N. Narasimha Reddy, MLA, criticised the suspension and said people would `suspend' the Congress in the next election. The MLAs dispersed after the marshals bodily lifted some and left them in front of the TRS Legislature Party building.
