Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has replaced its floor leader in the Legislative Council.
Newly-elected Graduates’ Constituency MLC K. Swamy Goud will take over from N. Laxman Rao, who held the position till recently. This was communicated to Legislative Council Chairman A. Chakrapani in a letter by TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Besides, Mohd. Mahmood Ali will be the Deputy Floor Leader and P. Sudhakar Reddy the Party Whip.
The change of TRS guard in the Council assumes significance as Mr. Laxman Rao is unhappy about admitting TDP MLA from Karimnagar, G. Kamalakar, into TRS. He has been pinning hopes of an MLA ticket from Karimnagar as assured by the party leadership in the past.
However, roping in Mr. Kamalakar has dashed his hopes since KCR has made it clear that the sitting MLAs and MPs from other parties joining TRS would be assured party tickets. Followers of Mr. Laxman Rao had even staged a protest in front of KCR’s house here recently but the MLC was pacified by the party chief.
