The TRS will win fifty per cent of the gram panchayats in the district, said its leaders T. Ravinder Rao and P. Sudarshan Reddy.
Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, they said that despite the misuse of power by the ruling Congress party and tricks played by the Opposition TDP, the people had voted for TRS. The voters rejected the parties which were against the separate Telangana issue.
“In Narasampet division, both TDP MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy and Congress leader D. Madhava Reddy tried their best to keep TRS at a distance. At several places, the Congress and TDP colluded and fielded one candidate against the TRS candidate. However, people voted for TRS,” Mr. Sudarshan Reddy said.
The TRS leaders claimed that though their party was not strong compared to ruling and opposition parties in Narasampet and Mahabubabad divisions, their party could win maximum number of gram panchayats.
“Our party won 87 gram panchayats in the first phase and 85 in the second phase,” T. Ravinder Rao said.
In the third phase of the election, to be held in Jangaon division, the TRS will stand first as the party has a strong cadre in Station Ghanpur, Wardhannapet, Palakurthy, Thorrur, Jangaon and other mandals which are going to polls on July 31, they claimed.
“The Congress leaders distributed money and liquor. They threatened the candidates with not releasing any development funds if they did not side with their party. Neither the candidates nor the voters yielded,” Sudarshan Reddy said.
