The people of Telangana have realised that the TRS party cannot bring about a separate Telangana state, said Konda Surekha of YSR Congress party .
Addressing a massive gathering at a function held to commemorate the appointment of senior Congress leader Cherukupally Srinivas Reddy as the district party president of YSR Congress party here, Ms. Surekha said even if the TRS party wins all the Assembly seats, it cannot bring the much promised separate state of Telangana.
“There should be a resolution in the Assembly. How can the TRS convince the members of Andhra and Rayalaseema to vote for a separate Telangana in the Assembly? It should also secure the support of the government at the Centre,” she told the cheering crowd.
Mr. Reddy, who worked as District Congress Committee president and Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chairman is a close associate of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. He recently joined the YSR CP and has now been appointed the president of the district unit.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Reddy said he would strive to build the party from the grassroot level.
He said he would take to people the ideals and welfare schemes of late YSR and would also highlight the injustice being done to the family of the late leader.
The party leaders mobilised thousands of people to put up a great spectacle at the function here.
Party leaders G. Ramchandra Reddy, Nunavath Radha, J. Bharatchandra Reddy, Konda Muralidhar Rao and others were present.
