KARIMNAGAR: Government Whip D. Sridhar Babu has alleged that the TRS leaders, who are scared of defeat, are importing leaders from other parts of Telangana for electioneering in Karimnagar parliamentary constituency.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, he charged the TRS with insulting local cadres by roping in other leaders from Telangana for the campaign. "How will TRS win the elections when it is neglecting local cadres?" he asked. He said the people of Karimnagar district would teach a fitting lesson to the TRS in the elections.
He alleged that TRS leaders, who are confused about their future prospects, are resorting to cheap tricks with `Telangana jai gantalu' programme.
He flayed the TRS leaders for neglecting the Telangana region during their regime in the UPA government.
Refuting TRS leaders' allegations, he clarified that the Congress was committed to the development of Telangana. He said the two major irrigation projects -- Sripada Sagar and SRSP flood flow canal -- were fast progressing in the district. He also said the Government had sanctioned Rs. 110 crores for Karimnagar Municipal Corporation under urban infrastructure development in small and medium municipalities.
Reiterating that the party was committed to formation of Telangana State through consensus, he asked how the TRS would secure Telangana by coming out of the UPA Government.
He demanded that the TRS leaders clarify about how they will secure Telangana. DCC president T. Santosh Kumar, Mayor D. Shankar, Karimnagar market committee chairman Y. Sunil Rao and others were also present.
