Three tricycles have been pressed into action here on Wednesday as part of a conventional campaign to popularise the ensuing three-day World Telugu Conference scheduled to be held in the temple town of Tirupati from December 27.
Joint Collector M.M. Naik has flagged off the impressively decorated tricycles at a programme held on the premises of the TTDC here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naik said the tricycles will spearhead a street-wise campaign in the town up to December 19 to highlight the importance of the forthcoming World Telugu Conference.
Earlier, he inaugurated district-level literary and painting competitions for schoolchildren at the same venue. An essay writing competition on “Telugu Basha Vikasam” was organised on the occasion. The Department of Culture in collaboration with the allied government departments has planned a host of cultural events to promote Telugu language and its magnificent literary heritage during the ongoing district-wide campaign.
