Kakinada: Collector M Ravi Chandra distributed tricycles, artificial limbs and hearings aids donated by Badam Charitable Trust (BCT) to physically challenged people at a function organised at Lions Community Hall here on Wednesday. BCT has spent Rs 1 lakh on the relief material which included 13 tricycles, 15 hearing equipments and three pairs of artificial legs.
On the occasion, Mr. Ravi Chandra said voluntary service organisations like BCT have to contribute their mite for the welfare of physically challenged while the government made its best efforts to alleviate their suffering.
BCT has been rendering various services during emergencies like fire accidents and other situations. It deserved praise for extending a helping hand to the needy. Trust chairman Badam Balakrishna said tricycles and artificial limbs costing Rs 2 lakh were distributed to physically challenged at special camps conducted in Tuni and Mandapeta in the last two days. Trustees B.V.V.K. Surendra Babu, Badam Kusuma and K Muni Reddy were present.
