Glowing tributes were paid to saint composer Tyagaraja, great son of the Prakasam soil, on Friday. Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt Asthika Vidwan P. Sambaiah and other musicians sang the famous Pancharatna Kritis to perpetuate the memory of the saint who composed songs in praise of Lord Rama.
Lalita Kala Academy chairman Santavelu Koteswara Rao led the music lovers in paying floral tributes to Tyagaraja one of the celebrated carnatic music trinity.
It was from Kakarla in Ardhaveedu mandal the ancestors of saint Thyagaraja hailed, District Public Relations Officer R. Narayana said. Special pujas were performed by vedic priests from the Chennakesavaswamy temple on the occasion.
