Journalists paid rich floral tributes to Potti Sreeramulu by performing “akhanda pushpabhishekam” to his statue in Jouli street in Rajampet on Saturday.

Vedic pandits and temple priests Narahari Sarma, Subbaraya Sarma, Datta Sarma and Harinath Sarma recited Vedic chants in memory of Potti Sreeramulu and about 600 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for a united State.

Annamayya Press Club president J. Suryanarayana, vice-president P. Prakash, secretary D. Gopinath and senior journalist S. Kalanjali lamented that political leaders of Telangana had forgotten the sacrifice made by Potti Sreeramulu for the formation of Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that separatists would not be pardoned by Telugu-speaking people, they asserted that people with a sense of social responsibility were striving for a united State.

Editors of several small publications, press and electronic media including photographers participated.

Striking employees of several government departments and Arya Vysya Sangham leaders expressed solidarity to the protest.
