Tributes paid to police martyrs

Urban SP T. Ravikumar Murthy said that police martyrs will be remembered by society forever for their sacrifices. While paying tributes to the police personnel on the Police Commemoration Day at AR Police grounds, here on Monday, he said that the police personnel with dedication and commitment sacrificed their valuable lives while in service, for which the entire society is saluting them and remembering their services.

He said that 579 personnel had sacrificed their lives, including one person from Andhra Pradesh and announced their names in the public meeting as a mark of respect. He further stated that every year the Police Commemoration Week is being observed from October 15 to 21 and special competitions were organised in schools and colleges and a blood donation camp was organised in Rajahmundry.

Mr. Ravikumar Murthy and Rajahmundry RDO M. Venugopala Reddy paid tributes to martyrs by placing wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial symbol. A special parade was held by various wings of urban police. Later, Urban SP handed over prizes to winners of various competitions conducted during this week. I.T.V.S. Suryanarayana, OSD, DSPs N. Babji, P. Umapathi Varma, N. Sridevi Rao, R. Satyanandam, G. Murali Krishna, AR DSP P. Krishna, CI Ambika Prasad and others attended.

In Vizianagaram Collector Kantilal Dande, superintendent of police Karthikeya, additional superintendent of police T. Mohan Rao, Officer on Special Duty Srinivasa Rao and others paid rich tributes to the police personnel who killed in action during 2012-13 at the Martyrs’ Memorial at District Police Office here. They also gave away prizes to schoolchildren who won in painting, elocution and essay writing competitions conducted earlier.
