Glowing tributes were paid to late Indian archery coach Cherukuri Lenin, who died in a road accident last month, by people from several walks of life at a condolence meeting held at Volga Archery Academy here on Wednesday.

VMC Commissioner G. Ravi Babu said a proposal would be sent to the district administration to allot a house to the family members of Mr. Lenin under JNNURM scheme.

MP Lagadapati Rajagopal promised to donate Rs. 5 lakh for the development of the academy, along with Krishna District Olympic Association president Y. Harish Chandra Prasad who had promised to give Rs. 1 lakh. Chess Grand Master Koneru Humpy lauded the contribution of Lenin to archery. District Sports Development officer B. Sudhakar and Dronacharya and Arjuna awardee A. Ramana Rao paid tributes.
