Tribal people accorded a rousing reception to Speaker Nadendla Manohar during the latter’s visit to the remote Ravigudem in Manuguru mandal on Monday night.
Mr Manohar, accompanied by Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister for Horticulture R Venkat Reddy and members of the Legislative Committees on Wild Life and Environment Protection, and Welfare of STs, visited the tribal habitation amidst tight security arrangements. Addressing a large gathering of tribal people in the village, Mr Manohar assured to put forth a proposal mooted by Pinapaka MLA Rega Kantha Rao for setting up a skill development centre for the Adivasi youths in Manugur, before the government for its sanction. The SC and ST sub-plan would ensure effective utilisation of the huge sum of funds allocated for the welfare of the SCs and STs, he said dwelling at length on various flagship programmes of the government meant for tribal welfare. He assured to ensure sanction funds for construction of a community hall in the village. He interacted with the tribal people and elicited their views on implementation of different tribal welfare schemes.
He issued instructions to the officials concerned on the spot to promptly redress the grievances of the villagers. Collector Siddharth Jain, SP A V Ranganath and others were present.
