The trial run was rendered a low-key affair in view of the election code
A trial run of a double-decker train was conducted between Kacheguda and Tirupati on Thursday. The train halted at Kurnool City station for a brief while before resuming its journey towards Tirupati. On the return journey, the train would travel to Kacheguda via Guntur.
MLC M. Sudhakar Babu inspected the train and passenger comforts on board. He got into the train and was seated within for a while.
Meanwhile, the trial run was rendered a low-key affair in view of the election code and Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Jayasurya Prakasha Reddy hailing from Kurnool.
Railway officials said the train would soon undertake the scheduled journey between Tirupati and Kacheguda. They, however, said they had no information about the timings of the train, the number of bogies or passenger capacity.
Several onlookers also inquired about the number of seats allotted to Kurnool City station. Many inspected the completely air-conditioned train and expressed satisfaction over passenger comforts.
The interim Railway Budget 2014-15 had provided for a biweekly double-decker express service from Kacheguda. Also, another biweekly double-decker express was also announced between Guntur and Kacheguda.
