An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 on Richter scale took place at Mungi Tanda in Nyalakal mandal of Medak district in Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours of Wednesday. Though few houses were partially damaged no one was injured.

According to official sources the compound walls of four houses collapsed partially while the walls of four more houses developed cracks. People ran out from the houses. The tanda was located bordering Karnataka and around 40 families are residing in the tanda.

Tremors felt twice for five to seven seconds with a gap of half minute. Even the animals in the back yards tried to run away from sheds.

The locals said that never before they had experienced such incident.

Collector S. Suresh Kumar had confirmed that there was an earthquake and that no one was injured. Zaheerabad (Rural) Circle Inspector Mohd. Gouse and revenue officials had visited the area.
