HYDERABAD: Presenting a platform for entrepreneurs with an eye on tourism and hospitality industry, to pitch for their ideas, network and tap investment opportunities, a Travel and Hospitality Entrepreneurship Summit 2010 will be held in the city on March 26.
The summit, the first of its kind at the national level, will be organised by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) at The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace in Madhapur, it was announced here on Friday. “This will be an annual affair and we plan to take the conference to different cities each year,” said J. A. Chowdary, Chief Mentor, TiE-Hyderabad and member, Board of Trustees, TiE Global.
Among the highlights this year would be a session with venture capitalists that are focused on investing in travel and hospitality industry. “Venture capitalists will be interested to discuss investment opportunities for private players,” said Dr. A. Ramesh Babu, president, TiE, Hyderabad.
A panel of Tourism Secretaries from the four southern States, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, will look into travel and infrastructure of the four States and enable investors to invest and work out joint strategies, says Ramu R. Kallepalli, CEO, travelspice.com. There will also be another panel on hotels and resorts that will dwell on industry operations, benefits and opportunities to expand business.
A big leap
From the way speakers chose to indicate, the travel and hospitality industry are all set to take the big leap in the country, after the IT and telecom sectors, with many venture capitalists keen on investing. “We want to focus on real opportunities available in industry. Young entrepreneurs with ideas will find this useful,” said Mr. Babu.
