With the elections to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council from the Karimnagar Graduates and Teachers’ constituencies slated for February 21 and the counting of votes on February 25, the district administration conducted a training programme for the officers and other staff to be deployed for the election duties, in Karimnagar on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector and Returning Officer Smita Sabharwal informed the officials to ensure that the election process was completed peacefully without any irregularities. The polling personnel and officials were told about the voting pattern for the election, opening and closing of ballot boxes, identification of valid votes, counting of votes based on priority votes, etc.

A session of mock polling and counting process was also held to educate them on the real difficulties that may crop up on the polling day. Joint Collector H. Arun Kumar, DRO Krishna Reddy, RDOs Sandhya Rani, Ayesha Khan, Srinivas, Hanumantha Rao, Srinivas Reddy, and others were present.

Micro observer

Nalgonda correspondent adds: A training programme in counting of votes polled in the AP Legislative Council elections of the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teacher’s constituency will be held here on February 18, District Collector and Returning Officer N. Mukteswara Rao said here on Thursday. A micro observer is being appointed for each of the 166 polling stations.

Interacting with Bhanwarlal, Chief Electoral Officer, during a video conference, Mr. Rao said all arrangements have been made for the conduct of the elections. The district police have put in place an effective ‘bandobust’ for the polls. There are no problem areas in the district.
