HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Thursday arrested the Additional Chief City Planner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Katta Purushotham Reddy, on charge of acquiring properties illegally.
Searches at his house in Sagar Society of Banjara Hills and those of his friends and relatives revealed that he earned assets worth over Rs. 1.2 crore that were disproportionate to his known sources of income. Among his properties were five plots in city outskirts -two in Chandanagar and one each at Guttala Begumpet, Nallagandla and Shameerpet-, according to a press release.
The properties included a three-floor house at Banjara Hills, two houses at Madhapur and Moosapet, a house and a flat at Ameerpet, 4.5 acres of agricultural land at Maheswaram, Ford Fiesta car and gold jewellery worth Rs. 15 lakh. An amount of Rs. 16 lakh was also seized from this house while bank balances to the tune of Rs. 7 lakh were found.
He would be produced before a local special court.
