HYDERABAD: A woman from Chennai, Suman Singh, 40, who allegedly duped landowners of Rs. 56.25 lakhs claiming herself as `top bureaucrat,' was arrested by the Humayunnagar police on Friday.

Living in a rented flat close to Asifnagar police station, the woman used to claim herself as an IAS officerand IPS officer, the police said. She led one Mohd. Abdul Hafeez of Masab Tank believe that she was a top officer in the Chief Minister's Office.

Hafeez's family has 20 acres of valuable land at Pulimamidi in Maheswaram. "Being an IAS officer, I have large circle of wealthy people. Give me xerox copies of your land papers, I'll get you good buyers," Hafeez's family members quoted the woman as saying.

She prepared fake documents and released ads in newspapers. On learning this, Hafeez's family lodged a complaint. She allegedly collected Rs.16.25 lakhs towards advance from one Mirza of Nanalnagar for selling the land.
