Modugula pulls up Tobacco Board in-charge chief at Formation Day fete

Just when the organisers of Tobacco Board Formation Day celebrations thought that the function was set for a smooth start, Narsaraopet MP Modugula Venugopala Reddy gave them a rude jolt by openly airing his displeasure at the Board in-charge chairman C.V. Subba Rao for not being invited to the event.

A few minutes before the programme to begin, Mr. Venugopala Reddy entered the venue (Indian Tobacco Association Hall) and straightaway questioned Mr. Subba Rao as to what was the reason for ignoring him when even some ex-members of the Board were invited. He pulled up Mr. Subba Rao for the lapse and asked whether he knew what the privileges of an MP were.

Mr. Venugopala Reddy was upset that he was left out in spite of the fact that he has in his constituency a large number of tobacco farmers.

The MP shouted that those at the helm of affairs in the Tobacco Board could not heap such an insult on him.

As the MP turned down requests to occupy a seat on the dais, Mr. Subba Rao came down and apologised but to no avail.

Mr. Venugopala Reddy insisted that the insult meted out to him was an affront to farmers and he would not take it lightly. Even as Mr. Subba Rao and his officers tried to convince him, the MP walked out in a huff and warned against meting out similar treatment in future.
