KARIMNAGAR: Kottala Mohan Reddy alias Madhu, former Maoist Dalam commander and ‘kingpin’ of Telangana Jagarana Sena (TJS), an armed outfit formed by former naxalites to resort to violent acts in the name of Telangana statehood, was arrested by the Sircilla police on Monday.
On credible information, the Sircilla police led by Circle Inspector P. Venugopal Rao and his team swooped on a house in Thangalapalli village of Sircilla mandal and nabbed Reddy. They also recovered a .32 pistol from his possession.
Reddy, who surrendered in 1997, was involved in 23 cases during his association with the Maoists. Some two years ago, he joined a leading regional political party.
He along with some other surrendered Maoists and Janashakti group naxalites formed the TJS to indulge in violent acts against parties favouring an integrated Andhra Pradesh. They planned to commit a sensational killing in the district and also resort to extortions.
However, the Sircilla police foiled their plans with the arrest of seven TJS members last week and recovered two 9 mm pistols, air pistols, dummy pistols, soap bombs etc. Two other members were still at large and the police launched a manhunt to nab them.
