The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) has planned a series of protests from January 17 to 27 to build pressure on the Centre to announce a road map for formation of Telangana State before the one-month deadline fixed by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on December 28 last.
A meeting of the Telangana employees’ and other associations, presided over by TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram here on Sunday also discussed their future course of action in case a positive decision is not taken by the Centre or it comes up with an alternative solution to formation of Telangana.
“We will announce ‘Maha pratighatana udyamam’ (massive confrontation) during the 36-hour protest planned from January 27, if the Centre refrains to take forward its December 9, 2009 decision,” Mr. Kodanadaram said.
The TJAC along with Telangana Employees’ JAC would give a final shape to the 36-hour protest planned in the name of ‘samara deeksha’, the TJAC chairman stated. President of Tealgnana NGOs’ Association G. Deviprasad Rao said they would oppose any solution other than statehood to Telangana with Hyderabad as its capital.
To build pressure on Ministers from Telangana region to pursue statehood to the region, the gazetted officers’ association would organise protests in Ministers’ constituencies. TGOs’ president V. Srinivas Goud said.
