It will highlight the need for setting up a steel plant

Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) district unit has decided to conduct a convention in Bayyaram on August 24 to chart out an action plan to spearhead a movement for public sector steel plant in the iron-ore rich Bayyaram mandal.

Announcing this at a press conference held here on Saturday, CPI (ML-ND) district secretary P. Ranga Rao, TJAC district chairman Kanaka Chary and others said the speakers at the ensuing convention will highlight the urgent need for setting up a steel plant in the public sector mode in Bayyaram. TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram and others will participate.

Stating that Bayyaram was a perfect location, in terms of availability of mineral resources and infrastructure facilities, for establishment of a public sector steel factory, they said such a move will help create tremendous employment opportunities for the local youth.

It will also contribute to accelerated industrial development of the backward region.

They said the convention will deliberate on appropriate strategies to counter attempts if any to shift the iron ore from Bayyaram to other places.

The TJAC district unit has also decided to organise a round table conference against the proposed “Dummugudem-Nagarjunasagar Tail Pond Link Canal Project” in Khammam on August 31.

A similar convention against Polavaram project will be held in Bhadrachalam in the second week of September, they said adding that rasta rokos will be staged in all the mandal headquarters on August 28 in protest against power cuts.

The TJAC is gearing up for the ensuing “Telangana march” slated to be held in Hyderabad on September 30, they said.
