It is collection time for bookworms to fill up their racks, as Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Tirupati Kendra’s 7th annual ‘Tirupati Book Festival’ will begin at the sprawling SV High School grounds from Saturday.
The idea behind the event is to spread book reading habit among different age groups and to make available new range of books. Apart from the Bhavan’s Book University’s impressive collection of 2,000 titles, books from prominent publishers like EMESCO, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Prism, Scholastic, Prajasakthi, INGNO, Sahitya Academy, Telugu Akademi, Ramakrishna Publications, Indian Vedic Maths Forum, Navaneeth Publications, Malayala Manorama will be available . About 55 stalls have already been put up at the venue. The other highlight of the event is the opportunity given to every reader willing to share their experiences of reading a good book, in the form of a 30-minute discourse.
“The State-run and private schools can visit the book festival and purchase books for their libraries, for which the motivation of the district educational officials is pivotal,” says Bhavan’s Director N. Satyanarayana Raju.
TTD Executive Officer L.V. Subrahmanyam, Collector Solomon Arokiaraj will take part in the inaugural, while Superintendent of Police (Tirupati Urban) S.V. Rajasekhara Babu, industrialist Ramachandra N.Galla, TTD Joint EO P.Venkatrami Reddy and MCT Commissioner L.Murali will attend the valedictory session.
