Mylavaram MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao inaugurated a three-day science exhibition at Kondapalli DAV Public School near here on Thursday.

On the occasion, he said the onus of inculcating interest in science among students and mould them as future scientists lay on teachers. Science exhibitions would help in developing creativity among students.

Such events were the need of the hour to promote science and research activities at all levels, he said.

The exhibition also helps in sharing cultures in addition to inculcating scientific temper among students, he added.

Though the State and Central governments were spending crores of rupees on education, the desired results were not achieved. The Central government introduced ‘Inspire’ to promoting scientific temper and technological creativity among students.

MLC K. Lakshman Rao stressed on the need for research in Science and Technology for development of the nation. Unfortunately, there was no encouragement for research. Basic science was not given importance on par with applied science, he pointed out.

DEO D. Devananda Reddy, MDO Nagamalleswara Rao, and NTTPS CE G. Kishore Babu were present.
